I found myself deeply involved in the lives of Ish, his partner Em, their friends and family members, and emotionally vested in their future. Civilizations come and go, as they have done for millenia before ours, and through it all, Earth Abides. Then we realize that our human control is often an illusion, and we are all merely a blip in the passage of Earth's history. We take so much for granted, until it is suddenly taken from us.
